The Gawler Garden and Produce Share is a fortnightly gathering at Apex Park, where people bring excess garden and produce “things” to share with others, the focus is on home grown and home made with a preference for organic and chemical free methods being used.
Anyone is welcome, even if they don’t have anything to share, or are just starting out in preserving. Check out the Transition Gawler Calendar for the next Gawler Garden and Produce Share.
The “First Fridays” Catch up @ the PA Hotel, is an informal gathering where anyone who is interested in Transition Gawler can come along and meet, mingle and share ideas with like minded individuals.
It occurs on the “First Friday” of the month, at the PA Hotel 109 Murray St, Gawler) from around 7:30pm, with some arriving early to indulge a meal made from locally sourced produce.

Get on Your Bike Gawler (or GOYBG) was initially started as a Transition Gawler initiative with the ultimate aim to encourage people to choose cycling as a preferred mode of transport over fossil fueled modes of transport, leading to the even greater over-arching goal of Transition Gawler to create a Sustainable future for Gawler.
To date there has been a number of social rides organised through the Get On Your Bike, Gawler (GOYBG) Chat Group (Facebook group) with others getting involved with bigger picture ideas such as:
- starting a Bicycle Hospital where people can do minor repairs to their bikes and learn basic bicycle maintenance, and also the possibility of re-cycling/re-gifting unwanted bicycles.
- increasing bicycle parking around destinations (like schools, supermarkets, cafes etc)
- changing people attitudes towards cycling and “cyclists”
- working with councils, parents and schools to get more students cycling to and from school
- working with council and DPTI to get more cycling infrastructure installed in and around Gawler
