Energy Group

Transition Gawler now has an “Energy” sub-group.

This group is coordinating the Solar panel bulk buy, an initiative open to all people living in and around Gawler

If you have ideas, or enthusiasm, (or both) about renewable energy options for Gawler, we would love to here from you.

If you would like to be part of this group then contact us and let us know, feel free to email us, leave a comment here, or on our Facebook page or our Facebook Group

We are excited by the SA government’s recent renewed commitment to renewable energy with the 50% target.  This would place SA on par with the best performing nations around the world. Semi-regularly, SA generates nearly 80% of all its daily energy requirements from renewables. We think SA can do even better and we are actively working to a 100% renewable energy target for Gawler.

Here are a few things others around the place are doing which we are watching and drawing inspiration from.

Windpark_Feldheim_0876-7“Regardless of debate about the success of Germany’s renewables revolution, there is no denying that a small town in the corner of rural eastern Germany, 40 miles south of Berlin, may be one of the best examples of decentralized self-sufficiency. Feldheim (pop. 150), in the cash-strapped state of Brandenburg, was a communist collective farm back when Germany was still divided into East and West. Now it is a model renewable energy village putting into practice Germany’s vision of a renewably powered future.”
